Fond farewell for sweet shop owner

The popular Sweet Shop near the Castle Street Woolpack entrance to The Shires is closing this month.

Sweet Shop owner Cherry Robinson, who lives in Hilperton, has decided to bring down the shutters after 14 years of what she describes as 'hard but very enjoyable work'.

"The years have just flown by and I've met some fabulous people,"said Cherry, 67, who has been helped in the shop by her daughter Georgina.

"My daughter has three daughters of her own and we've both decided that this is for the best although we'll still be helping The Shires with the Hallowe'en event in October when we hand out sweets to kids who come in fancy dress so I'll see a lot our customers then.

"It's quite amazing that some of our customers who used to come into the shop to buy sweets when they were kids now come in with their own children," said Cherry who thanked all her customers over the years and said it was really nice to hear some of the kind words they had said about her and the shop.

Cherry has not fixed a definite closing date as she said it would depend on how long her existing stock lasts
