Spooktacular fun

We were taken over by spooky goings on during half-term when we put on several free activities for the local community to enjoy.

As well as a circus skills workshop, local children's entertainer Dave Hickory brought ghostly balloon modelling to the centre and 500 pumpkins were carved into various scary shapes.

Throughout the week, there were also ghostly Halloween props in the centre and we invited people to upload their photo to our Facebook page for the chance to win a Samsung Galaxy Tab4.  The winner was Lexie Carter, age 3, whose photo of her holding her pumpkin while the grim reaper looked on received the most likes.

The week finished on Saturday 29th October when a Harry Potter lookalike cast a magical spell over the centre and had his photo taken with a number of shoppers. Young children were also able to go trick or treating around the centre by searching for the pumpkin posters that had been hidden in shop windows.

Sarah-Louise Moore, Centre Manager at The Shires Shopping Centre, commented, "During a school holiday it can sometimes be difficult to keep the kids occupied so we wanted to put on a variety of free activities for parents and children to enjoy. The activities were extremely popular and everyone seemed to have great fun."
